I am currently accepting students in 1st through 12th grade.
My rate is $25 per 30-minute lesson.
New to piano lessons? Read some FAQ from new parents.
A music education should equally involve ALL styles of music, and some music should be selected based on
student choice. Music reading and "playing by ear" are equally as important, and the combination of the two
leads to true musicianship. Music is fun and rewarding when approached with hard work and an open mind.
and have high expectations for themselves. Practicing needs to be a "way of life" and expected by the parents.
Students who are not held to practicing standards at home often lose self-motivation after about a year.
It takes several years of lessons to be able to read music and play piano proficiently as an adult.
All piano parents need to fill out the New Student Info sheet and sign my Music Studio Policies and Expectations.
After reading everything carefully, if you would like to start lessons, contact me at (770) 995-3290 or at rachel.landers@gmail.com.

I ask that students purchase 3 Alfred method books (Lesson, Theory, and Fun/Solo) and a lesson planner, all available at their first lesson. Call for pricing, since it will vary by student level. Also, please have a thin binder or folder for any custom arrangements of special music I provide (which are free).

I give students the tools to succeed, but they have to do the work. Students should be practicing at least 5 days a week, 10-15 minutes for K-2 and 20-30 minutes for 3rd grade and older. Here are some tips for practicing:
The truth about practicing for parents:

Awards

I use "points" for my grading system. Students earn three points every time they come to a lesson prepared (for bringing all materials, completing written assignments, and showing evidence of practice). Extra points are earned by learning extra lesson material, performing in or attending musical events (bring in the program), or anything else that I believe is going the "extra mile." Students earn awards for accumulating large amounts of points. Medals are earned at 50, and trophies are earned at 100, 200, 300, etc. Students who stick with piano lessons and work hard will be the ones who earn the taller trophies.

I give students the tools to succeed, but they have to do the work. Students should be practicing at least 5 days a week, 10-15 minutes for K-2 and 20-30 minutes for 3rd grade and older. Here are some tips for practicing:
- It's okay to make mistakes. Nobody's perfect!
- Practice speed is slower than perfomance speed.
- Do not always start at the beginning of a piece.
- Play difficult sections more than easy sections.
- Spend time playing fun music too.
- Practicing is the parent's responsibility, just like eating vegetables.
- It is normal for a child to stop wanting to practice. Be creative.
- You child is not too busy to practice, no matter what. Call my mom to talk. 770-844-7182 :)
- If piano is not a priority to you, your child will not want to do better.
